SECRET COLORADO

1 - Estes Park

Having landed in Denver, we started our trip with a short visit to Estes Park,
at the entrance of Rocky Mountains National Park

The weather was not perfect...
But there were many tourists...


... probably because of the Annual Elk Fest :
The bull elk invade the Estes Valley during the early days of fall


 


We then left very quickly to go and camp in the Longs Peak Campground, on the Park border,
at the start of the trail to Longs Peak ( 14 259 ft = 4 346 m)
(the campground is at an altitude of 9 500 ft = 2 900 m - a light snow fell during the night...)

 

 

 
 

We had come to Colorado to enjoy the foliage :
obviously, if the colors were present in the Rocky Mountains National Park,
they were not quite up to our expectations...

So, we decided to go and visit the National Forests, South of the State of Colorado...
